Account & Data Deletion

Last updated: June 2026 (the app no longer has accounts — Google Sign-In and Calendar Sync were removed; deletion is a local reset)

WhereIGo is designed so that your trip data lives on your device, not on a server. The app has no accounts. The simplest deletion path is built into the app itself — open Profile → Reset app data. If you have already lost access to the device, or want your historical anonymous analytics events purged, the options below cover those cases too.

What data exists, and where it lives

• On your device. Trips, days, activities, prep checklists, preferences, and your Google Places API key are stored in local encrypted storage (MMKV). Removing the app from your device deletes all of this immediately.
• Anonymous analytics events (Mixpanel) and crash logs (Firebase Crashlytics). These are tied to a random identifier generated on first launch — not your name or email. They cannot be used to identify you, but you may still want them purged. If you select any of the optional reason chips when resetting app data, those categorical selections are sent as one final analytics event under the same anonymous identifier before the local data is wiped.

Option 1 — In-app reset (recommended)

Open WhereIGo, go to Profile, and scroll to the bottom.

• Tap Reset app data, optionally tap any of the reason chips ("Privacy concerns", "Too complex", "Missing a feature", "Found a better app", "Bugs or crashes", "Other") to tell us why you're leaving, type DELETE to confirm, and the app clears all trips, days, activities, and settings from this device and disassociates this install from future analytics. The reason chips are optional — skipping them is supported.

Option 2 — Uninstall the app

Removing WhereIGo from your phone deletes every trip, day, activity, prep item, preference, API key, and the anonymous analytics identifier from your device. This has the same effect as Option 1.

Option 3 — Request analytics history purge by email

Options 1 and 2 stop new analytics events from being linked to you, but past anonymous events remain in Mixpanel under their original random identifier until they age out. To purge that history now, email us. We will:

• Purge the historical analytics events tied to your anonymous identifier from Mixpanel.
• Confirm completion by replying to your email.

Requests are processed within 30 days. There is no charge.

What we keep, and for how long

After processing your request, we do not retain any account data. The only items that may remain are aggregated, fully anonymous analytics counts (e.g. "X trips were created on day Y") that cannot be linked back to any individual.
